The Business Development/marketing manager’s chief responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for developing the business side of the company and dealing with the numerous business opportunities which are presented to the organization throughout the year.
  • Identify and pursue suitable leads for the organization and follow through to a successful agreement.
  • Identify and implement a business strategy to maximize revenue, increase profit margin and sales funnel
  • Work with various departments to develop marketing campaigns, pitch documents, and raise awareness of company services and values.
  • Responsible for driving up the expansion of businesses and identifying new markets as well as continued expansion among existing customers.
  • Identify key contacts at existing businesses and foster a long-standing relationship with them by liaising with them on a regular basis.
  • Function as an image maker for the company by keeping a professional and presentable appearance for meeting customers/clients
  • Work with various departments to develop marketing campaigns, pitch documents, and raise awareness of company services and values.
  • Lead introductory meetings/pitches between clients and agency leaders
  • Oversee and drive B2B (business to business) marketing plans and activities.
  • Increase new business opportunities through digital marketing and other routes to market.

Skills Required:

  • Should have proven sales experience either gained within a marketing agency or service-based organization.
  • Should be able to deliver results within timelines without stories.
  • Must have the ability to proactively drive new business growth for the organization using your own sales and marketing tools, techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to think strategically – seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills – needed for communicating with a wide range of people, both internally and externally
  • Project management skills and the ability to lead a team of staff and lead across all areas of the business.
  • Ability to develop strategies to drive marketing and promoting activities for the company’s products and services to potential customers.
  • Must have strong leadership and networking skills
  • Ability to track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals
  • Must be confident, assertive and emotionally mature
  • Have excellent organizational, presentation, and listening skills
  • Collaboration skills—the ability to build relationships, influence, manage conflicts and navigate through setbacks in order to get things done.
  • Must demonstrate a passion for sales, business development and willingness to learn
  • Good work ethics: Able to be part of our work culture, self-motivated and a team player with integrity.

Experience: A minimum of four years’ experience in Business Development. Experience within the service-based industry will be an added advantage.

Minimum of First Degree in any field with any other relevant qualification or certification.

NOTE: professional certification in Project Management is an added advantage.
