Recently, I read an article that resonated deeply with me, and it got me thinking:

Is it possible that our insistence on “cultural fit” is really an inability to accept that someone can be different—and still be very capable, qualified, and perhaps even a better fit to get the job done?

Is it possible that this idea of fit is just a masked way of maintaining the status quo, rejecting anything that doesn’t look or feel familiar—even when it might be better overall?

Time and again, in every space and across every race, I see people clinging to the familiar. They reject the unfamiliar, even when it could bring growth and strength in the long run, and then use every reason possible to justify these choices.

If only, as humans, we could look beyond the negatives of what makes us different. Because just beyond that lies the great potential of what our differences—and yes, our similarities—could achieve.
